New Beta (0.3.0324) and New Name!
It took a little longer than we anticipated, but here's the next updated beta version of the game. This update includes a name change from ALTERITY to ALTERIS: THE VEILED CITY. There were a couple of reasons for doing so, with Google searches for the ALTERITY name being autocorrected to ALTERNITY (an old TSR RPG from 1998) being a major driver of it. We also think this name gets its content across more directly.
In addition to a name change, there are a number of revisions and additions to the game. I'll let the changelog at the end of this devlog break that down for you all.

ALTERIS: THE VEILED CITY - Beta v0.3.0324 Changelog
All
- Changed the name of the game from ALTERITY to ALTERIS: THE VEILED CITY and replaced references throughout text and on game sheets as needed.
The Basics
- Harm – Removed Harm Clocks and replaced with simplified Harm Tracks (Physical Harm and Mental Strain) with three boxes each. Removed two of the three harm penalty levels. Also updated harm references in powers and abilities throughout the text, as well as in the "Recover" subsection under Personal Pursuits and the Appendix A: Recursions.
The Delvers
- All Playbooks – All playbooks now start with the first special ability already assigned. Players now can select a second special ability during character creation.
- Hierosavant Playbook – Rewrote the Mental Push Special Ability to reflect the recasting of those abilities as Aetheric Mentat Forms.
- Lamplighter Playbook – Rewrote Celestial Quintessence Special Ability to reflect addition of Celestial Gifts.
The Aetheric Orders
- All Orders – Lightly edited all four aetheric orders.
Personal Pursuits
- Craft – Added sample craft items (alchemical & aetherotoxic formulas, infusion protocols, and technomantic designs).
Multiversal Epochs
- Adjusted rules for shifting epochs, removing the range modifier when near a crux point in a gloom and adjusting upwards how many fellow delvers an initiator can take with them on an epochal shift.
The Gloom
- Revised "Geography of a Gloom" subsection, adding more details to the Location Node description.
- Added a random roll chart to the "Gloomspawn Bestiary" subsection.
- Revised the "Rival Factions" subsection, providing narrative descriptions and keyword touchstones for each category of faction.
- Added the "Sample Gloom: The Greening" subsection to The Gloom, showing an example process for creating The Greening gloom and detailed location node notes for all sites in The Greening.
